Problem: Help Ballymaloe Foods kickstart Summer sales

Solution: Use a short-term retail target to build the brand in the longer term

Ballymaloe Foods is a renowned Irish brand with a rich history. Their Relish in particular is legendary. And like lots of legends, it’s inspired its fair share of imitators.

With similarly-sold and packaged alternatives available at the discounters, sales were under threat, especially as Summer arrived and BBQ season started.

The solution was to call on the rich heritage of Ballymaloe. The strategy was to look beyond short-term retail gains, and to invest in the long-term health of the brand. Both could be achieved by reclaiming some of the iconic status that Ballymaloe had, but that had been lost.

Ballymaloe is an icon of Irish food. So much so that it’s hard to think of some food moments – especially BBQs – without Ballymaloe.

So we confidently placed the iconic pack and packaging front and centre in an eye-catching way, making sure that it would work on even the smallest social and digital formats, as well as at point-of-purchase.
